Hi,
I’m Chet Jilka, one of the co-founders of Zen Life.
For most of my life, I found myself in a nervous and worried state while I observed those around me go through life seemingly confident and able to overcome any obstacles that life put in their way.
When faced with challenges, I would often freeze and find myself looking for distractions to take my mind off the task at hand. Later I learned that this was known as ‘procrastination’. Does this sound familiar?
I also learned that the way I was feeling was known as ‘anxiety’. It was stopping me from taking action in order to live the life I wanted to live. I would become frustrated by seemingly simple and often trivial challenges and lash out at those around me, making life difficult for and souring relationships with those I had no real quarrel with. The problem was me, not them.
“One of the best lessons you can learn in life is to master how to remain calm”
– Catherine Pulsifer
My own mind was my biggest hinderance and, unless I did something to change, my life wasn’t going anywhere so I sought to gain control over my mind and train my mind to remain calm even when faced with challenges that I had no clue how to tackle. By remaining calm, I was better able to think logically and figure out solutions to the problems that life threw my way.
“A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything”
– Irish proverb
I sought to find ways to better take care of my mental health in order to stop myself from slipping back into my old habits and discovered how important sleep was to both our physical and mental health. Not just the quantity but also the quality of sleep.
In my previous state I could get the recommended 8 hours of sleep a night and still not feel like I’d reset my mind. I learned the importance of good ‘sleep hygiene’ to improve the quality of sleep in order wake up truly refreshed and ready to face the day and whatever challenges it may bring.
I helped create Zen Life as a way to provide help to anyone who struggles with stress, anxiety and control over their own mind.
I’m not a medical professional and anything mentioned here should not be taken as medical advice, but I do want to help anyone for whom a lack of mastery over their own mind is a barrier to becoming the best version of themselves.
I helped create Zen Life in order to provide products, services and techniques that are proven to help reduce stress and anxiety and improve focus and mental well-being.
Thank you for reading so far and remember, the best version of you is coming!
